Our story

We began our journey with CPQ Belgium when our founder provided support to a burgeoning Belgian scale-up. This company had developed a cutting-edge technical solution for outfitting expansive parking facilities with EV (electric vehicle) charging points. The solution involved the integration of one or more electrical cabinets, diverse charging point models, and payment systems. Additionally, it featured a charging management application that could be tailored for private or public use, along with the capability for seamless integration with intelligent energy monitoring. Their goal was to distribute this solution through multiple partners to engineering firms and installers across various countries. It became evident that the intricate nature of the solution posed challenges for resellers in effectively marketing it.

 


 

Marc: “I embarked on a quest to explore how companies across different industries were successfully marketing intricate technical products through diverse sales channels, leading me into the realm of CPQ software. My investigation involved identifying approximately 70 CPQ software providers worldwide. Following an in-depth desk-study to compare features and assess interoperability with other applications, I reached out to around 20 companies to delve deeper into their respective offerings. Subsequently, I undertook a detailed financial analysis of half of these applications and ultimately selected four for a comprehensive (paid) proof-of-concept evaluation. After nearly 9 months of meticulous scrutiny, I ultimately chose a standout application that excelled in features, robustness, cross-industry applicability, responsiveness, interoperability, and total cost of ownership (TCO): the Merkato CPQ Toolbox.”

 


 

Roughly a year later, the Merkato Group approached Marc with an offer to assist in their international expansion efforts. Impressed by the software and driven by an entrepreneurial spirit, he established a company initially targeting the Belgian and Luxembourg markets. Under this entity, two distinct brands serve businesses dealing with varying levels of complexity. Sell it Easy promotes Merkato Essentials, tailored for companies with ‘not all that complex’ product offerings, while CPQ Belgium champions the complete Merkato suite, designed for enterprises contending with intricate product and project configurations and/or diverse sales channels.
